Buying Guides and Reviews for Labrador Retrievers

Two labrador puppies

Labradors are easy to love and surprisingly hard to shop for. They’re big, strong and food-obsessed, they chew like it’s a job, and they shed enough to knit a second dog. A lot of the gear sold as “for large dogs” doesn’t last a month with a Lab.

That’s why we built these buying guides. Each one compares products on what actually matters for a Labrador: durability against heavy chewers, the right size for a 55 to 80 lb dog, comfort for growing and aging joints, and honest value for money. Every pick comes with at least one downside, because nothing is perfect.

  • Food: what to feed a Lab at every age, and the foods we’d buy
  • Tools and gear: brushes, harnesses, collars, beds and shampoo
  • Toys: tough chew toys, fetch toys and brain games
  • Training: courses and programs for puppies and adult Labs

How we choose what to recommend

We look for products that hold up to real Lab life: chewing, swimming, pulling and shedding. We check sizing for adult Labs, read the materials and safety information, compare price against how long things last, and lean on trusted sources like the AKC and veterinary resources for anything health-related.
